I have a doubt: The desire to get pregnant - whether it's a formal learned desire or an intuitive drive. While I read many articles that indicate that the desire to have a baby is a S2 (consciously thought out) desire and not a S1 (subconscious) desire.
My question is :
Why do animals have babies (or have sex)? Because they have seen others of their species having sex (they don't have bedrooms to hide in so they do it in public) and they want to try it out too?
What about the estrous cycle (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estrous_cycle) when females are in heat meaning they are driven to have sex and get pregnant? During ovulation phase women's sexual needs are much higher than during other days. Is this learnt? No this is S1 too as is the sexual desire / being in heat for other mammalian females.
Another question i have is: is the drive in humans and other animals primarily to enjoy sex or primarily to have a baby?
If the act is not enjoyable then it is to have a baby or for other social reasons like security.
Consciousness of everything around us makes us different from animals.
ReplyDeleteOnce we have that I don't think we can have anything natural. Day by Day we are becoming more processed.
Animals are more natural in their behaviour than us. So they have sex when the urge happens. Now when the urge does happen for them it is similar to hunger. Conditions apply as, the male should be strong. But I don't think that condition is to have strong babies it is only for her satisfaction. After few years she might do it with her own children if there was a male child. Most of the animals don't consider this mother child relationship for a long period, may be few days or few months in most of the cases unlike humans. So Babies are as a result of the urge which was unavoidable. I don't think they enjoy the process. Moreover they don't think why babies are born. So for them it is a routine.
We do have urge and we fulfill after applying conditions (differs from person to person). In such cases we tend to see, in most cases how this would work.
Women's ability to bear a child is considered as gift, her purpose in life, supposedly the primary one. That's why when a girl child attains puberty it is celebrated in certain communities (though that is projected differently nowadays). when she couldn't become mother she is disregarded and discarded in the society.
Even feeding a child is a beautiful act which is difficult to describe. The pain you go through the process of delivery is forgotten easily once you go through the feeding process. You would feel that was worth it as you have attained the capability of feeding a being who was in you, a part of you for so long and now only you can be the life saver. Every drop of milk (if the mother carries good amount and starts dripping out if it is not fed on time) she would try to give it to the child.
Nice. I don't agree with one thing - based on what i have read..females actually need strong males not only for their own security but also to ensure that her babies have good genes from the father.
